I’m pleased to announce that I am one of 50 bloggers featured in the Brazen Careerist network. I’d like to welcome any new readers and invite them to peruse my archives (which are a bit disjointed) and subscribe via the link in the right sidebar.
I’m very excited to be a part of this network. I love what the folks over there are doing and I think it’s a great resource for both gen y college grads and the people who’ll be hiring them. Head over and check out the other bloggers.Permalink
Disregard this post. It’s all fancy Technorati behind-the-scenes action.

So, it’s finally happened. I’ve got a job and I’m moving to NYC. I’ve been talking about this for a long time and I can’t express how excited I am to finally be doing it.
I’ll be working for IAC in the awesome Frank Gehry designed building in Chelsea. My job title is “front end developer” and I start on December 10th.
My last day at my current job is December 5th, a Wednesday. That gives me just four days to pack up in Rochester, move everything I own into storage, and show up for my first day of work the following Monday. I had once planned to take some time off but that is not going to happen even a little bit.
One of the coolest things about my new job will be working in the Frank Gehry designed IAC building. It’s been written about in a few places and is the subject of many pictures. For more coolness check out the building’s web site. How many buildings have their own web sites?
Since my day-to-day life is about to change drastically, AllMyLiesAreWishes is going to change as well. I’ll be using this blog to post random cool things I find and talk about restaurants and TV like always but I’ll also be chronicling all my fun adventures in the city. Stay tuned. I’ve got some cool stuff in the works.Permalink
AllMyLiesAreWishes is the Deathstar of web sites—it’s still under construction. Slowly but surely I’m implementing my original design ideas as well as the occasional new change that strikes me in the middle of the night. In case you haven’t noticed there have been three typographic changes within the past few days.
The “Recommended Reading” section at the bottom of every post was looking a little weak. the links weren’t jumping out at you like I thought they should. I switched over to gorgeous Georgia and big-uped the size. I think they’re much more eye catching and effective now. Don’t you just want to click on them?
I tightened up the kerning on all the headlines to -1 which makes them “tight but not touching” which, in turn, makes my pants a little tighter. That was crass, I’m sorry.
I had already darkened the type for the main body copy a few weeks ago but I still felt like readability could be improved. I bumped the font size up one point (now at 13px) and increased the leading to give the content room to breath. Longer winded posts (like I write any other kind) shouldn’t look as daunting anymore.
Expect more of these edits as time goes on. Once I’m finally happy with the site it’ll probably be May and I’ll be designing it all over again since I promised myself I’d participate in the festivities this year. I’ve already got ideas…
Links to screenshots for posterity. When this post is old and people are reading it many styles from now it won’t make sense unless there’s captures of what I was talking about.Permalink
AllMyLiesAreWishes is sitting pretty at #3,915,745 in the Technorati list of weblogs.
